What is a Cambodia Postal Code?
A postal code (often referred to as a ZIP code) is a sequence of numbers used by postal services, logistics companies, and e-commerce platforms to accurately route mail and packages. In Cambodia, the official postal code system is standardized by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC). Having the correct code ensures your international shipments, documents, and online orders reach your exact address without delay.
Understanding the 6-Digit Format
The standard Cambodian postal code structure uses a precise 6-digit format. Each pair of digits helps narrow down your geographical location across the country:
- First 2 digits: Identify the Province or Municipality (e.g., 12 for Phnom Penh, 17 for Siem Reap).
- Next 2 digits: Represent the specific District or Khan.
- Last 2 digits: Pinpoint the exact Commune or Sangkat.
Important Note: You must always include the leading zero for provinces numbered from 01 to 09 (e.g., Kampong Chhnang is 040000, not 40000).
Standard Code vs. Full NIS Code
Our generator provides two distinct types of codes for different use cases:
- Standard Code (6-digit): This is the universally accepted format required by international couriers like DHL, FedEx, and global e-commerce websites like Amazon, Alibaba, and AliExpress.
- Full NIS Code (8-digit): This is an extended code used primarily for internal government administrative databases and highly specific local routing down to the exact village level.
